The contributions presented in this special issue represent a subset of the scientific results presented at the 2003 EGS-AGU Joint assembly special session and included in the Volume 5 of the Geophysical Research Abstracts Journal.

A special issue of "Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology", Volume 198, issues 1-2, has just been published (15 September 2004). The voume is titled "Antarctic Cenozoic Palaeoenvironments: Geologic Record and Models, edited by Fabio Florindo and Alan Cooper.
